What is your sexual ethic?

Do you know your sexual ethic?  As in, how do you make your sexual choices?  How do you know what you are and are not comfortable doing sexually?  Have you ever thought about what informs the sexual choices you make?

One of my favorite ways to serve my community is to help women uncover their sexual ethic.  Everyone has an ethic, but most of us don't spend time understanding how it is formed and if it really serves our authentic self.

In short, the way I can help women establish their sexual ethic is by looking at three main sources that inform how we make decisions about sex.  These three constructs are Science, Intuition and Value Systems.  I call this Sexual Discernment.

Take a look at what might be included in each construct:

Science

Comprehensive sex education

Understanding of pleasure anatomy

Understanding of reproduction Consent discernment

Intuition

What feels pleasurable

What feels uncomfortable / painful

Emotional intelligence

Personal exploration

Value Systems

Informed religious values

Familial values

Cultural values

In a healthy sexual ethic, all three of these categories play a role in balancing how you create sexual decision making.  Unfortunately, many of us experience a lopsided approach to sexuality that is heavily influenced by one category - religion.  This happens because we are not given the opportunity to have comprehensive sex education and our personal intuition about sex is not valued.

If you would like to expand the conversation about how these three constructs can help you navigate past, current and future sexual choices, I'd love to invite you to join divinity and creative coach Bonnie Lewis and I on Oct 7th for Purity to Passion.  This webinar will focus on how to navigate those early messages we receive about sex based on religion and how to find a more blended and balanced approach to sex as adults.  This approach leads you to connection and pleasure and away from pain and shame.

This morning I woke up feeling anxious because of work projects, teaching online schooling in Spanish and caretaking an ER doc during a pandemic. But by 11am, I'm feeling loads better, ready and able to take on the day. Wanna know my secret? It's Terria Nichols. I've been doing personal training with Terria since 2015 and I can't tell you how many times I've showed up in her gym weepy, angry or anxious. She takes all of what I bring and turns it into burned off energy. Now, we do virtual workouts while my kids are in the next room in "school." Her workouts are a challenge, but I feel less anxiety and stress after 100% of them. She understands I don't workout to change the look of my body. She fundamentally understands that working out for me is about strength, mental health and disease prevention.

I'm so very honored to highlight her today in this spotlight. Terria has been instrumental in helping me move forward toward body acceptance, anxiety management and inner confidence. If this sounds like the right fit for you, please contact her. She will do a free consultation with you...and then you can do virtual workouts with my group on M/W/F! If you have been needing help with body movement, this is your sign. I hope to see you in class! (You can even judge my sweet dance moves in between sets. ;)
