The dumbest/grossest analogy I’ve ever made

I’m always talking about responsive and spontaneous arousal because I think it is just so helpful and important to know.  Spontaneous arousal is when you feel aroused in your body / brain…so you go seek out sex.

Responsive arousal is when you might not feel aroused, but you are in the context of sex (in the bedroom for example) and you begin the sexual behaviors (kissing or sensual touch) and then your arousal shows up.

Responsive arousal folks may never feel aroused out of the blue.  It takes a few moments to get aroused after they are in the context of sex.

Spontaneous arousal folks may rarely need much time in the context of sex if any to feel aroused.

Let’s make this real weird and create a poop analogy.

Do you or someone in your household go to the bathroom to poop WAY before there is urgency for poop?  But they sit in the context of pooping (the bathroom, on their phone with the door locked) until the poop shows up?  Could be 20…30 minutes…could be in the context of pooping until your legs go numb.  Just saying, context first, urgency to poop, second.

OR do you wait until you have the feeling that you need to poop, and then you go to the context of pooping and it happens more quickly.  Urgency to poop first, context second.

Is this responsive pooping and spontaneous pooping?  LOL! I don’t know.  But I think the analogy somehow works.  And might even be helpful to explain responsive arousal to the responsive pooper in your household.

Will I regret writing this tomorrow?  Probably.  But for now, it stands as the grossest, dumbest and most accurate analogy I’ve made in my career.

Best,

Celeste

Let’s go!
