Four things making me happy.
1. Magic Mike's Last Dance
Miss me with your “there’s no plot” and your “where’s the character development?” Honey, NOBODY goes to see Magic Mike for the PLOT. I’ve always loved the Magic Mike movies and I was just as excited to see Channing Tatum gyrate his way into Selma Hayek’s stage production. The Magic Mike franchise, including the Las Vegas residency, goes to great lengths to portray consent and produce a show that is created from the female lens. Rumor has it they set up an anonymous booth in Time’s Square and let women just talk about what they wanted, and then started to create from there. Last Dance portrays female arousal and fantasy in a fun, enthusiastic and feminist forward way. If you aren’t already excited about this film, just know that Tatum’s character Mike asks FAR more questions to Max, Selma Hayek’s character than he does statements or answers. Not questions in a shitty, cornering, “devil’s advocate” kind of way, but in a curious, I want to really see and know you more kind of way. And if that isn’t the one thing hotter than a Tatum lap dance, I don’t know what is.

3. The Sex Ed 101 Workshop Series
This time of year I always get excited about my partnership with Kat Harris. Our Sex Ed Workshops are back and we want you in them! We cover everything you never learned about sex. This is perfect for those of you who want a safe place to fill in your knowledge about sex ed for yourself AND for arming yourself with the knowledge you need to teach your kids. Sex education has been such an integral part of my deconstruction and liberation process. I’m hoping we can pass this on to you too.
4. The Wall Street Journal
I subscribed to the paper version last year and have enjoyed reading my news in analog on the weekend. There is something so satisfying about the flick - snap of opening the paper to your preferred section. I never ever miss The Rumble Seat, a car review article by Dan Neil Makes me giggle with snark every Saturday. (Two weeks ago, in a review of the Lamborghini Urus Performante he said, “I appreciate the fact that Lamborghini hasn’t forgotten its core clientele is 11-year-old boys.”) I love cars and the ones he gets to drive and write about are the crème de la crème. He is equally as comically cynical as he is wise and complimentary. I love the way he writes. In my next life, I want to be Dan.
Happy St. Patty’s Day y’all! If you can’t be good, be sneaky!
