Why sex wanes in long term relationships

Are you in a long-term relationship where you could finish each other’s sentences but figuring out how to improve sex permanently feels impossible?  This describes the majority of my clients.

Sex gets more difficult in long term relationships for a few reasons.

  1. Novelty fuels arousal, so when the relationship is not new, novelty must be intentional.

  2. Men and women are socialized (in general) differently for sex.  Men are socialized to utilize sex to feel better and women are socialized that their worth is in their ability to give sex, making it transactional and without pleasure.

  3. Responsibility is the biggest killer of arousal, and as we live together longer, our responsibilities pile up.

I help couples learn how to negotiate sex that works for both people by taking them through a four-part process of sexual renovation.  I typically do this through one-on-one sessions, but twice a year I offer this four-part process in a group setting.  If you are ready to finally address the root issues of your sex infrequency, boredom and frustration, now is the time to join the next Long Term Lover’s group.  We start next Wednesday!  Check out more details below:
