Be the superhero of your sex life

ACTION!

In general, I like superhero movies. For those who care, I don't really have an allegiance to either DC or Marvel. I have my favorites in both houses. I wish I could say that I only watch deep thinking, character driven, complicated films, but that would be a lie. Both Nathan (my spouse) and I are blessed with careers that make us think deeply and hold big space to vicariously experience the trauma and complication of other people's lives. When I get home, I don't want any more of that thank you very much.

This is what I like in a movie. Action, quippy one-liners and a happy ending. Much like my sex life.

I like being a sex educator because sex can often fill in the cracks of the stuff we sometimes miss in every day life. Pleasure, connection, silliness. Touch, sensations, shivers. Liberation, non-judgement, relief.

However, if sex is not filling in the cracks of what is missing during your day, it can feel like just another obligation. More work without reward. If it is feeling complicated and heavy, like a Francis Ford Coppola film...it might be time to get some help.

Uncovering the conditioning you were given that keeps sex feeling difficult is the first step to unraveling the mental gymnastics it takes for you to get aroused. I'd be so honored to help you on that path, but even if it isn't with me, I hope you commit to doing the work. Because beyond that heaviness is a sexual script that's fun, flirty and always has the hero coming out on top. (Literally?)

And for what it's worth, my favorite superhero movie is Wonder Woman with Gal Gadot. I love that she stands for love and justice while kicking so much ass. However, as much as I adore WW, if I were to identify the most with one superhero, it would be Harley Quinn: A weird Ph.D. with a chip on her shoulder and a penchant for excellent egg sandwiches.

SO, ARE YOU READY TO BE THE SUPERHERO OF YOUR SEX LIFE?
