No one blows wishes on roses
Why I love dandelions
Dandelions do not wait around for perfect lighting and fertile soil. They pop up through sidewalk cracks, along fences, in weird little corners where no one invited them. In fact they usually aren't welcome at all. They are resilient little powerhouses with sturdy roots and soft edges, tough enough to survive being underestimated and then light enough to let the wind carry them somewhere new when the time comes.
I want to be more like that. Resilient without getting crusty. Flexible without abandoning myself.
Willing to bloom even when the environment is being obnoxious. Roses may get all the poetry, but dandelions know the real secret: survival does not always look fancy. (No hopeful child has ever blown sweet wishes into a rose.) Sometimes strength is staying tender and sometimes it is holding tight. And sometimes it is becoming supple and soft enough to let go and fly.
Sending you love into this weekend, full of sunshiny, soft, underestimated dandelions.
