Many of the women I see in my practice are capital “R” responsible! These are the ladies organizing the trip, creating the spreadsheet and checking the checklist.

They are the ones who feel worthy when they are productive.

And often, these same women struggle to experience pleasure, in their sex life and their regular life. Pleasure is elusive because it feels…unproductive.

One of the biggest problems that I see is that we work to be able to handle the hard experiences of life, but typically don’t work to have the capacity to experience the pleasures of life.

(This is even more important for those of us who grew up in church, where pleasure, especially for women, is discouraged. After all, you are there for service and sacrifice…that’s your responsibility.)
