Does pleasure elude you?
When was the last time you did something just because it felt good? And when you did that thing, did you actually feel the good? Or was it more complicated? Did you feel some good, but also some future anxieties and some lists of groceries and at least one little intrusive feeling of guilt?
If yes, you are normal. Your experience of pleasure is highly influenced by the way pleasure was taught to you. This happened through the modeling of your caregivers and how pleasure was presented in the world around you.
Was having fun something that was reserved only for kids? Or the opposite? Leisure activities were for the adults?
Were you told that you could only have fun once your chores were done?
Did you find yourself watching movies and wondering if everyone else was having more fun than you?
These are just some of the deconstruction questions we will be covering in our Pleasure Club. I know that you have some work to do here (because we all do) and it would be my honor to guide you through this process.
If you are ready to deconstruct your limited views of pleasure and more fully enjoy the good parts of your life, please consider signing up for Pleasure Club. Spots are limited and our first session begins Nov 12.
